Exposed light bulbs can occasionally be alright with the correct placement, but more often than not 🫤 they are a no go! So I get why you say no on exposed bulbs & clear shades. It is safe to just say no in general for these when the chances are more often than not they would be NOT be used in the correct space. I will disagree on your reason for not using the clear shade 🤔 first you gave a great reason when talking about exposed bulbs. I would say I. The extremely rare case that an exposed bulb is okay then the clear shade essentially protects the bulb from dust...... so clear shades 🤷‍♀️while not great 🤷‍♀️are not totally useless! In general, I think these suggestions are on the mark for 99% of the population 👍. Btw for anyone wondering where they place on do or don't for this 🤔 an easy way to rule them out is to honestly assess of if these bulbs could ever be at eye level in the room(s) or upstairs in open area! That is an immediate NO! But let's be honest, the odds are not in your favor 🤷‍♀️ so play it safe and avoid these light fixtures!

Not to defend him but almost all the newly built modern houses I seen in Puerto Rico that are supposed to be high end are similar to this on the interior and there's not much to choose from. He definitely needs to hire an interior designer to clear up the mess.

I just bought my place, which was updated by a thirty something year old guy. It has five TVs and three sound bars in 2000 sq ft, I kid you not. There are those color changing LED light strips on the back of the TVs. There is surround sound ceiling speakers in every room, on every porch, and in the garage. They each have their own Sonos, so different music can play in each zone. Here comes the punch line: I am a 73 year old who does not watch TV and rarely plays ambient music.

The house's deign is not very interesting, but the landscaping makes up for it. Although it could be improved by adding some trees or a pergola with vines or something to add some shade by the pool.

He probably bought a few pieces of furniture just so he could make a video of it because the mural that it’s in the guest room was already there. These large homes definitely need a designer the owner could work with to bring out it's potential. This is not the same as a 3 bedroom home in the suburbs. So much space needs a restrained and knowledgeable hand, not just, as you said, bookshelves and chairs from Ikea placed haphazardly in the space.
